"Early Summer" is the stunning new album by Amaya Laucirica. It is scheduled for release on Friday 1st October.

The album will be released on vinyl, CD and digital formats.

You can listen to the album right now and buy the MP3 version if you wish. CD and vinyl versions are available for pre-order only.

Amaya Laucirica has a voice that seeps into your subconscious. She’s an indie chanteuse; dark and dreamy, but never dreary. Mixed by Aussie ex-pat Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, The Moodists, Beth Orton), her second album builds on her striking debut, 2008’s Sugar Lights.

At times, she reminds of a young Chrissy Amphlett; alluring yet menacing. You get the feeling she’s just one breakout song from becoming a star. It might not be here, but the intoxicating "This World Can Make You Happy" comes close.

khancoban return with their latest stellar single ‘This Block’, giving audiences a taste of the album they are currently creating with producer Nick Huggins.

Like a fox after a rabbit in early morning, ‘This Block’ pulsates with a breathlessness that suggests to the listener the feeling of keeping up with and capturing a good idea after it occurs and leaps away.

The single is available now to listen to and buy in both MP3 and CD formats.

Label Launch Show! Friday 20th and Saturday 21st August

For those of you in Melbourne (and even if you're outside of Melbourne) we'd like to invite you to attend our Label Launch Show.

We will be hiring out the Northcote Uniting Church over two consecutive nights - Friday 20th August (FREE entry) and Saturday the 21st of August ($12 at the door).

The event is licensed, so no BYO. We will be operating a bar, selling decently priced beer, wine and water. So leave your kegs and casks at home.

Amaya Laucirica to tour with Mark Lanegan in July

We're extremely excited to announce that Amaya Laucirica will be touring nationally in July with the amazing Mark Lanegan.

Amaya has been booked to open for Lanegan during all dates on his upcoming Australian tour.

Encompassing Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, the tour coincides perfectly with the release of the first singles form Amaya's upcoming album Early Summer.

Tobias Cummings arrives at Departed Sounds

We're pleased to announce that we will be releasing the new album by Tobias Cummings.

In 2006, Tobias released his critically acclaimed debut album, 'Join the Dots'. The album was nominated for the Australian Music Prize, received 4 stars in Rolling Stone, and was described by Rave magazine as 'a stunning debut of beguiling vocals and sublime melodies'.

Now, in 2010, with a whole new band in tow, Tobias is back on the radar with his highly anticipated follow up, 'A Trophy'. Produced by the legendary Tim Whitten, the album is a richly textured affair, filled with arresting music, searching lyrics and, of course, Cumming's distinctively plaintive voice.

An album for those who seek and those who hope to find, 'A Trophy' will be released through Departed Sounds on the 23rd of August 2010.

Varning

We're pleased to announce the release of "Varning", the debut album from Lindsay Phillips.

Vinyls are due to be delivered in a few days time, however you can purchase "Varning" in MP3 format right now. CDs are currently in manufacture and should be ready in a few week's time.

If you're in Melbourne, be sure to lock in 2pm on Sunday May 9th at the Northcote Social Club where Lindsay Phillips, Silver City Highway and Andrew Keese & The Associates will launch "Varning" in style.

A Warehouse Show

We're pleased to announce that two of our artists will be appearing at a warehouse show scheduled for Saturday 24th April at 8pm.

Located just opposite The Arthouse on Queesnberry Street, this promises to be a sterling evening of eclectic entertainment.

Appearing from Departed Sounds will be Amaya Laucirica and khancoban. Opening the evening, Matt Bailey with his illuminated brand of country spirituals.

Headline act are Three Month Sunset who will take the evening into the midnight hour in a fittingly narcotic and reverb drenched spirit.

Launch approaching

Our official launch is fast approaching. We're currently still deciding where and when this will take place. The basic idea is to have two shows running over consecutive nights where we feature our acts alongside other acts we enjoy.

At this stage, we can't confirm any dates or venues. But we'll update you as soon as we can.

In other news, Lindsay Phillips' debut album Varning is currently being pressed to vinyl in Sydney. The launch of Lindsay's album promises to be a sterling occasion with support from local favourites Silver City Highway and label mates Andrew Keese & The Associates.
